As members of the Body of Christ, we are called to offer up our gifts in service of God and our neighbors. Church of the Resurrection provides a variety of ministries to meet the needs of the parish and the community. Below is a selection of some of our key ministries.
Outreach
We seek to make ourselves available in the greater community by meeting social, physical and spiritual needs and by participating in acts of charity. We make available resources for our congregation and visitors.
As the Body of Christ, the Church is to incarnate Christ’s love for all. We are not called to put our light under a bushel and look out for our own, but to be salt and light in the world. Church of the Resurrection seeks to provide, via its Outreach Ministry, opportunities to be a witness for Christ’s love “to the ends of the earth.” By providing education, coordinating activities with other Christian bodies and service projects, COTR furthers Christ’s love to those who need to feel it.
Classical Christian Education
At Church of the Resurrection, we place a high value on education. It is our belief that by solidly grounding people in the Catholic Faith so they will be equipped to live productive lives as Catholic Christians.
Small Groups
Small groups are central to our ministry strategy. All members of COTR are invited to participate in small groups, hosted in parishioners homes.
Our small groups serve a variety of purposes. Members of each group keep in close contact with each other, looking after each other in times of need. Each group meets regularly for study of the Faith and for the edification of its members. They serve as local points of outreach to the community. Each group is also mission-minded: members are encouraged to bring friends to join the group.
Pastoral Care
When members of COTR find themselves in need of spiritual care in extraordinary times, our pastoral staff is available to provide assurance and comfort. People may find themselves in difficult situations at times–a sickness that leaves them housebound, a sudden injury that requires a stay in the hospital, a spiritual wound that needs healing. In these cases, the pastoral staff provides a vital link between the community of believers and the person in need. They offer a comforting presence and the hope of Jesus Christ. They make the sacraments of unction available to the sick. They are available to hear confession when counsel and amendment of life are desired. They are Christ’s servants to the faithful in times of serious need.
