Our History

The Church of the Resurrection was established on April 21, 2002, by a steering committee of lay leaders and the Rev. Kevin Francis Donlon with the leadership of the Anglican Mission headquartered in Pawley’s Island, SC. Our name was chosen to remind us of the signal event in human history - the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead – and recalls the rebirth that we all share in Him.

The first liturgy presided by the Rt. Rev. Charles Murphy III, Chair of the Bishops of the Anglican Missions in the Americas (AMIA) representing Archbishop Kolini, was held on April 28, 2002. As an AMIA parish, we operate within the Worldwide Anglican Communion. We serve the Greater Tampa Bay Area, drawing people from Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties to our Ministry Center based in the Forrest Hills section of Tampa as a warm, caring family of God seeking to bear the light of Christ to the world!
